Advent Day 22 - GIVEAWAY!!! Beyond Numbers Book by Katherine Loop!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

You all know I love Katherine Loop's books Beyond Numbers: A Practical Guide to Teaching Math Biblically and Revealing Arithmetic: Math Concepts from a Biblical Worldview!  You can see my previous review of her two books here.  I love how this mathematical mommy keeps things Biblical by showing us how to shift our paradigm of teaching math to our children.  She clearly lays out the incorrect assumption presented by most math textbooks, that math in and of itself is a "neutral" subject.  She helps you see that math most definitely is not a neutral subject!  Rather, math is God's idea and principle which everything is built on in the world we live in and the more we understand math the better we are able to understand in part, the mind of God!

Math is often viewed as a completely neutral subject; 1+1=2 is the same around the world, isn't it? Yet this handy book reveals how the rules of a covenant-keeping God allow math to function, as it points out the evidence's of God's hand in creation, the functionality of everyday, practical math, and how to view and teach math biblically. A list of resources and curriculum to use is provided. 101 pages, softcover.
This second edition features an updated curriculums and resources chapter, as well as additional details on teaching math biblically.

273106: Revealing Arithmetic: Math Concepts from a Biblical Worldview, Revised Edition Revealing Arithmetic: Math Concepts from a Biblical Worldview, Revised Edition
By Katherine A. Loop / Christian Perspective

Math is often seen as neutral, with the facts and principles working no matter what religion you believe in. Katherine Loop has tackled the challenge of writing a math textbook that approaches math itself from a Christian perspective, pointing out how math only works because God's holding the laws of the universe together. Noting how different cultures have counted differently in order to emphasize that the laws of math are of God-- even if the symbols used to understand it are of man--she'll fully integrate creation and theology into your understanding of math. 205 pages, indexed, softcover, spiralbound. Revised edition.

  1. I can't think of any books I've read about math - that's why this sounds so appealing to me! :)
